Maps & Network: Installation Production Method
Main Idea:
As I have mentioned above that the whole installation is going to revolve around the idea of dance and how it is related to a particular society which is Pakistan’s. Coming to the Installation In itself I will be using a couple of objects to support my main idea. The main subject of my art installation is going to be a sketch that is made by me and I will be attaching it at the end. In that sketch I have shown the rough heels of a dancer and it is basically the main inspiration behind the tagline “Rough Heels”.
I will be placing this sketch in the middle of my installation and I will be surrounding it with different objects. Such as a traditional frock that is going to be rotating and hung on the ceiling in the Centre of the installation. As I’ll be covering the traditional form in Pakistan therefore I will be placing a Rabab and Tabla on the floor of the installation. The last and a very important piece that I will be adding to my installation is going to Ghungroo. The reason behind adding this piece is to show the disapproval of the society towards dance. Ghungroo have a very negative connotation and no one wears them unless they are a professional dancer in Pakistan. If I say that wearing them is frowned up than that would be a big understatement.
All of the pieces that I have mentioned above will be connected with a thread and they will be placed in a way that anyone can pass through the art misunderstand the meaning of my art installation. The art installation is also going to have a background music of Rabab and Tabla so the audience can have both visual and audio experience of the installation.
Material List:
Sketch:
The Inspiration behind Rough Heels. This Sketch is going to be the center of the installation.
Tabla:
The musical instrumental that is quite vital in all the traditional dances in Pakistan.
Rabab:
It is used to execute exquisite folk dances in groups.
Ghungroo:
I will be adding ghungroo to the installation as they will symbolize the negativity that is attached with dancing in our society. As Ghungroo are only worn by professional dancers or students as they are quite frowned upon in the society.
Dancing Clothes:
To Show the beauty of the dance and its variety different colors are incorporated in the clothes. Which is why I will be adding this to the installation it will also show the love of dance in every dancer’s life.
