Maps & Network: Installation Planning

Dance is a very powerful art form and it can convey a lot in few moves, but  unfortunately this art form is not accepted in our society and has a very negative  connotation attached to it which has been going on for years now. In this project I  want to convey a message of how a dancer despite the negativity and the social  stigma doesn’t give up on their passion and fights the good fight because for them  their art is more important than social acceptance. 

As my project falls under the installation category therefore, I will be conveying  my message through an art form that I am familiar with and that is sketching and  the main subject of this project are going to feet or more specifically dancer’s feet  and therefore I have given the name of my project “Rough Heels”. 

So, the way I’ll be representing my idea with the help of few things. The  material I’ll be cooperating in my installation are Ghungroo, Tabla, Raba,  Traditional Dancing Clothes and lastly the sketch. I will also fill the space with  chart papers and on them I’ll write the derogatory terms that the society uses for  the talented dancers and how it tries to put them down but they only focus on their  art and their passion without caring about anything.
