Script Writing Intro Class

The following points represent the main aspects of script writing I learned from the class held on 6th October 7, 2020. • I got to explore the meaning of Script on a different level, I was only familiar with the literal meaning of script but in this class I learned how we are surrounded by scripts of universe all our lives and every aspect of our life is moving in a loop of scripts which tend to not notice. • We discussed what a writer is and what differentiates a writer from a common man, anyone of us can make up stories and have a creative mind but if we don’t have skill over a language or we lack to maintain discipline we will never be able to become a successful writer. • When a writer is assigned a task what he first does is he follows a script which is the beginning, the mid and the end without this he will never be able to write something that is going to appeal to an audience. • If we dig a little deeper into the process of writing, we will get to know is that there are 8 steps to writing anything that are: Objective > Research & Development > Logline/ one-liner > Central idea>Synopsis > Character Sketch > Screenplay > Breakdown of every scene in that particular project. • After getting to know Script, how to be a writer and what are the guide lines when you start writing a script we dove into the areas where we will be able to find work after we have learned the skill. • The areas where a writer can work in media are Film, Digital, Broadcast, Print Media, Documentary, TVC (Commercials: generating the highest revenue) • We started with Broadcast in particular Tv, we learned about how the time slots are allocated varying from different genres of programs i.e, Dramas, Sports, Cooking Shows and Cartoon etc. • The highest revenue generator in Tv is no doubt TVCs and therefore they are a vital part of any Channel and they are allocated a time slot according to the timeline of the program. • After getting to know each and every timeslot we choose one program on which we had to write a script. My script was related to Wild Life and the name I gave my program was Getting Lost in the Wild. I started with a script but by the mid it turned into a bit of narration as I was explaining a situation and I learned how I will differentiate between the two in the future. After everyone presented their scripts the class ended to be continued next week…..
