Dadaism

As we were learning about the invention of camera I started by reseearch on the technique that I wanted to write about, when I started the research from the beginning the techniques I came across were Daguerreotype, Camera Obseura, Calotype and avant-grade. As avant-garde peaked my interest that’s why I chose Dadasim for my main resarch topic.
Dadaism
The revolutionizing of art was a result of Dadaism. Dadaism is a form of art which was used to vent out the frustration that arose in World War 1. Dadaism was inspired by other types of avant-garde movements such as Cubism, Futurism, Constructivism and Expressionism. The thing that intrigued me to write about this was that this form of art wasn’t just limited to photography or paintings it had all kinds of art form such as poetry, sculpting, painting and even collages.
Dadaism gave birth to the Conceptual Art movement which focused on art work that was made to depict the society and was used to raise questions about the society in the preservers mind. It also showed the purpose of art and how it served to guide you or enlighten the society.
Hugo Ball was the leader and co-founder of the Dada movement alongside his girlfriend Emmy Hennings who was also the co-founder of the Dada movement.
The Aim of the Dada movement was to help stop the war that was creating immense destruction and frustration among everyone and Dadaism was used to help revolutionize the future by setting an idea that no idea is concrete and their motto in itself was “Dada is anti-Dada”. It was used to help change the mindset of the people so this type of situation would not occur in the future and how the society had questionable morals that had to change.
The picture shows above is of Hugo Ball when he recited a Sound Poem Called Karawane in 1916. In this poem he recited syllables that had no apparent meaning and they were paired with sound. The lack of familiarity with what was said and the music provoked a sense of emotion in the audience. The idea behind this was hoe the European power had failed in resolving their diplomatic problems through rational thinking and discussion landed the world in World War 1 and also as a society they had failed to evolve and as a result went through this immense distress which was a wakeup call for everyone as they were failing as a specie.

Dadaism Photography:
This style of photography was born in 1918 and it is the pioneer of modern photography. The purpose of this photography was to raise question in the viewer’s eye and make them feel what the photographers was feeling at the time they took that particular photo.
All kind of props were used to create these images including different newspapers, physical objects and any kind of debris to create an image that was in the head of the photographer.
What made this art form so freeing was that it had no bounds no rules nothing. It was meant to break the stereotype and hence it was not constricted by anything and the artists had the freedom to do whatever they and no one would question their technique outcome or methods. You won’t find a simple synopsis of this art form because there was none which was the only rule that there will be no rules.
This art form helped in creating loads of inspirational art and also helped the fashion world with their new technique to market their photographs. Some of the Dadaism photographs are mentioned below:
